Class Programme

Classroom Blog: Please check out our Room 8 class blog regularly:
Our blog contains photos, stories, information, any class news etc.  We love comments from parents, friends, and relatives as well.

Maths: This term the focus is on Number -Addition/Subtraction Strategies/Basic Facts and Measurement.

Oral Language: This term we are focusing on reciting a poem to an audience while speaking clearly and fluently using expression.  Your child will choose a poem from school or a favourite one from home to practise and then perform at school on their presentation day. Some of the children will be selected to perform at the Senior Syndicate Speech Competitions between their speeches as entertainment.

Our class success criteria for reciting a poem will be:
I know my poem well.
I can use expression.
I can speak clearly and fluently.
I can use a big voice so everyone in the audience can hear me.
I can use some gestures and facial expressions.
I can use some props to help recite my poem (optional)

I have many poems to choose from in the classroom.  Once you have selected a poem for your child to learn please show this to me for suitablity.
Please refer below for your child’s presentation day.

Theme: We continue our ‘Wonderment’ focus for the year.  This term we are looking at the ‘Weather and the Water Cycle’.
Your child will become a Weather Reporter for a day and will present the weather forecast to the class. They will need help to research this either by watching the weather forecast on TV, looking at a newspaper, listening to the radio or using the internet.  Please refer below for your child’s Weather Day.

Thank you
Tania Bellamy

Please highlight your child’s name/date and put this on your fridge or a noticeboard. Don’t forget to practise reciting your favourite poem and research the weather forecast for the day.
